Kanter Problems with Parts

This page contains information on problems I've had with Kanter parts.  In my experience with purchasing a deluxe front end kit from Kanter, there has been a serious lack of quality control.

Following is an open letter to Dan Kanter.

Dear Mr. Kanter,

I’m having problems with Parts I ordered from Kanter.  I’m writing to you as a result of frustration in getting the problems solved and to make you aware of Kanter quality control problems.  Attached are letters which were sent to Kanter along with returned parts.  These letters provide the details of my problems.  To summarize, I’ve returned defective parts (control arm shafts) twice and am now returning them for the third time.

The first return of parts was somewhat understandable.  One could not detect the parts were defective without trying to install them.  However, the second and third deliveries of defective replacement parts were inexcusable and demonstrated poor quality control.  The problems were obvious and easily detectible.  In both cases, the threads on control arm shafts were defective.  This has cost me many hours of wasted time and a delay of two months in restoring my car.

I have a page on my web site, www.PontiacSafari.com/KanterProblems, which contains this letter and attachments.  I put this page there for the benefit of other Pontiac enthusiasts.  I think they need to be aware of Kanter quality control problems.  I don’t want my Pontiac friends going through this kind of frustration and delay.  If you have some explanation of the lack of quality control and plans to resolve the problem, I’ll be glad to post it to the web page.

Enclosed with this letter, you’ll find these attachments:

1.       Letter sent with first returned parts, dated 4 April 2005.

2.       Letter sent with third returned parts, dated May 16, 2005.

3.       Display of my post on Pontiac Oakland Club International (POCI) Technical Forum regarding my problems with Kanter parts.

I like your slogan, “Do it Once and Do it Right”.  However, it looks like I’ll have to hope that Kanter gets it right on the fourth try!  On a positive note, I appreciate Kanter’s continued efforts to resolve the problems.

Sincerely,

Larry Gorden
