Wayne Barbini passed away at his home

in Keller, TX on January 1, 2024.

He was born on June 10, 1942 to Phyllis and Bruno Barbini in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania.

He graduated from James M. Coughlin High School in 1960 and then later from Parks College at St. Louis University in 1963 with a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering. After his graduation, Wayne worked on airplane and helicopter projects as a civilian flight test engineer with the USAF at Edwards AFB in California.

In 1969, he joined the FAA and worked at the office by JFK Airport before moving to the Burlington, MA office, and then to the Fort Worth, TX office. It was there he became a fixture of the Rotorcraft Standards Staff, including acting manager. Adventure called to Wayne once more in 1995 when he seized the opportunity to work in Brussels, Belgium.

After retiring from the FAA in 1997, he joined Bell Helicopter and worked as a Director of Civil Certification until 2009.

However, it wasn’t long before Wayne embarked on even more adventures- this time he served as a certification consultant for numerous design approval holders. These organizations were scattered throughout the world, from some being located from home in the USA, to countries far beyond such as South Korea, Switzerland, and even New Zealand.

Outside of his career, Wayne had a love for aviation and working on cars. He also often found himself the life of the party, enthralling guests with tales of all his adventures. All in all, he lived one hell of a life to its fullest.Wayne was a wonderful husband, great Dad and the best Grandfather (Pop Pop) to his grandchildren. He will be greatly missed by all.

Wayne is preceded in death by his mother, Phyllis Barbini (Altier), his father Bruno Barbini, his brother Bruce Barbini, and half-sister Theresa Jaquet (Litchman). He is survived by his wife of 31 years Natasha Barbini, sister-in-law Janice Barbini (Reese), son and daughter-in-law Stephen and Caroline Barbini, son Dennis Barbini, as well as two grandchildren- Emily and Brayden Barbini.
