Kenita A Bushee

October 23, 1951 ~ August 25, 2024 (age 72)

photo With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Kenita Ann Bushee, 72, of Titusville, FL, on August 25, 2024. Following a courageous battle with a rare cancer, Kenita, a wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend, died peacefully at home.

Like the Steel Magnolias who went before her, Kenita's life was stitched together by the love and caretaking of her family, much like the quilts she made for loved ones.

Born in Chandler, OK, on October 23, 1951, to Vona (Williams) and Kenneth Webb. She was blessed with three brothers whom she adored. After many family moves, the Webbs settled in Florida, where she graduated from Colonial High School in 1969 and met her one-and-only love, Randy Bushee. They married the day after she turned 19 years old. In 1974, they welcomed their only child, a daughter, Dana. As an Air Force wife, Kenita worked in civil service where she studied and obtained her bachelor’s degree and became a remarkable top-tier administrative leader. She retired after 30 years of civil service, 22 of those working for the base commander at Edwards Air Force Base in California.

Kenita relished the title of Grandma, showering gifts, love and attention onto granddaughters, India and Riviera, whom she promises to watch over with angel’s wings. Randy and Kenita celebrated their 53-year wedding anniversary, and he often serenaded her by guitar, even in her final days.

In her final years, she spent her holidays in Maine with her daughter’s family and visited daily with her dad and brother on her porch. She met Dana and granddaughters in New York to attend Phantom of the Opera on Broadway, traveled to Waterville Senior High School to see Dana’s directorial debut, and cheered on Randy in musical gigs close to home. Her dying wish was for us to keep our love of music and theater alive.

She had a lifetime of friends from her travels through California, Belgium, Iceland and Florida. Laughter through tears was her favorite emotion. Other joys included porch sittin’, quilting, reading a good book while floating in her pool, savoring a well-brewed cup of coffee (with sweet-n-low at all times in her purse), arranging CHS reunions, working at the Valiant Air Command Warbird Museum in Titusville, and spending time with her two pups, Alfred and Lady. A dog lover for life, she no doubt was greeted by many furry paw hugs.

Our family wishes to thank St. Francis Reflections Lifestage Hospice Care who nursed all of us in her last year and moments of her precious life.

Kenita was predeceased by her beloved mother Vona Webb (Williams), and brothers Danny and David, and sister-in-law Pam. Kenita is survived by her husband Randy, daughter Dana, two grandchildren, India and Riviera, father, Kenneth Webb, brother Ken Webb, sister-cousin Karen Webster and husband John, sister-in-laws Stephenie and Carolee, and special nephews and nieces: Kenny and wife Lanaya, Kelsey and wife Jenna, Amy and husband Matt, Nick, Jason and Kristy, second-cousins Mathew Jr., Alice, Paisley, and Evelyn & Aubrey, as well as her maid of honor bestie Marilyn Schiff and numerous extended family and friendships that have spanned a lifetime. In memory of my mom, make time to visit with your loved ones on a porch, her favorite place to be.

Note: Kenita served as the Executive Officer for the Technical Support Directorate of the 412th Test Wing for the majority of her 22 years working at Edwards AFB.
