Charles
William Friant “Charlie” passed away in Castle Rock, Colorado on February 22,
2019 after a decades-long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. Charlie was born on
July 25, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland. He lived most of his life in Florida but
moved to Castle Rock in 2015 to be closer to his son and family. Charlie was a
veteran of the United States Air Force and retired in 1979 as a Lt. Colonel.
With a background in mechanical engineering, he continued to work for Pratt &
Whitney/United Technologies until he retired completely from work in 1999. His
career took him around the country and the world, and he particularly enjoyed
his time living in Germany, where he mastered the language and traveled around
Europe with his family. He was predeceased by his loving parents, Rose Janet
Friant and Charles Henry Friant and the mother of his two children, Jayne
Gardner Friant Davis. He is survived by his brother, Richard Henry Friant
(Deborah); his daughter, Elizabeth Ann Friant Langefels (Larry); his son, Joseph
Charles Friant (Sharon); his five grandchildren: Kimberly and Matthew Anspach;
and Nicholas, Wesley and Ashley Friant; and his niece Emily Friant Freshour
(Brad) and her children Gwyneth and Henry. Charlie lived life with gusto and is
remembered by one and all for his quick wit, his endearing charm and his
delightful sense of humor. He loved to travel, and he never missed a chance to
sing along to favorite songs.
